Family and Culture
Parents that have children with disabilities just have to open up to a new world. It's just another blessing handed to them in a different way. Having a strong family to support it coming from parents and siblings. It's always important to have a positive attitude and stay together as a family. Family is the main part of the relationship with your child with disabilities. Im not saying this in all circumstances but it is good to have everyone on the same page working together. It is also important that the teachers at school remain to keep everyone involved. Having teachers and parents develop a strong relationship I think is important to have a comfortable learning environment for everyone.

As parents, I feel as if your main goal should be focusing on building a strong relationship with your child whether they have a disability or not. It is important to do so because you want them to feel loved and supported in whatever they may choose to do in life. Family and Teachers play a huge role in this setting. It is so very important for everyone to be in on the loop and staying on track with your child's progress so it can strengthen the child's abilities. For parents that have a children with disabilities, it's especially important to hold a pretty good relationship with the teacher, speech therapist, therapist, etc. Whatever he/she may use or need.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your post. I believe that if you decide to have children then you should make sure that you have a good and healthy relationship with your child regardless of the situation.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your post Haley. I think that parents who have children with disabilities do have to have an open mind. In order to be a good parent to a child with disabilities you need to be open and realize the things that you need to do to meet your child's needs even though they may be a lot different than that of a child without a disability.
