#2 The Other Sister

Social skill- Carla utilizes social skills throughout the movie. She is constantly communicating with other characters and understanding what they are saying.  When Clara and Danny check to see if they passed their class, Carla can read that Danny is upset when he gets upset and starts crying because he didn’t pass. This particular example meets the definition of social skills because she was able to read that Danny wasn’t happy like she was and she was able to react in an appropriate way.
Practical skill- An example of when Carla uses practical skills is when she moves into her own apartment. Danny also uses practical skills when he uses transportation through the bus system so he can go to work. Both of these are examples of practical skills because they’re skills a person needs for everyday life. The responsibilities Carla needs for living independently are cooking and cleaning. Danny is responsible to use the bus system to be able to go to work.

Conceptual skill- Throughout the movie, Carla was able to understand abstract ideas which shows her use of conceptual skills because she was able to comprehend to them using what she already knew and applying it to the situation.

  1. I was surprised how good her social skills were, usually when you think about people with disabilities, you don't think of them having their own apartment and getting married.
