My favorite part of the movie "The Other Sister" is when Carla fights with her mother and insists that she can plan her OWN wedding and she does not need her mothers help. This is my favorite part because it's a very good example of how independent Carla is throughout the movie. At this very moment in the movie I believe that Carla's mother figured out that Carla was not as helpless as she thought that she was and Carla had wants and opinions just like anybody else. At that moment I think Carla's mother realized she wasn't so different from her other two daughters.

In what ways can educators help to empower students to be able to advocate for themselves in the way Carla did in that moment?
