Carla demonstrates having mild disability. She does not present a high function of disability as she is able to attend a public school and be placed in a classroom with other students who do not require the same kind of attention. Carla is able to live on her own in her own apartment where she takes on the responsibility of providing for herself. She is also able to make decisions that provide for a better lifestyle. The two functions that Carla needs in order to function is the constant love and positive support from her father and eventually her mother as well as the unconditional love from Danny. The love and support her family gave her helped to better her lifestyle. For example, when Carla moved into her own apartment her parents provided a check list to ensure that Carla would remember the necessities to keep herself safe. Carla needs the unconditional love from Danny because he gives her the comfort she needs in order to function. Danny is able to relate to Carla and he sees past her abilities for the person she truly is.
