The Other Sister Post 3

In the Other Sister Carla demonstrates conceptual, social and practical skills

Conceptual skills are demonstrated when she creates bracelets for each member of the family. This is an example of conceptual skills because she was able to think creatively about how to make the bracelets and the idea of having each bracelet spell the name of her family members.

Social skills are demonstarted throughout the entire movie. Carla is capable of talking to those around her but it is obvious that her language is sometimes not appropriate for her age. For example, when her  mother takes her to the charity event Carla insists on barking at the dogs while a speech was being given. This demonstrates how Carla is not aware of the appropriate times to talk out in public. Another example is when they are at her sisters wedding rehearsal and Carla and Danny scream out that they had "done it" on Thanksgiving. This was not the appropriate time to tell her family that she had done this act especially in a room full of people.

Practical skills are demonstrated when she ran away from home after realizing she was not happy being at home. She managed to find her way back to the school her mother sent her to which demonstrated that place was a significant spot in her life.
