The Other Sister- Post 4

This film was incredibly inspirational in the fact that it depicted a young girl with an intellectual disability, and yet managed to portray her abilities and strengths in ways one would never think possible. Although she has a mild to moderate functioning intellectual disability, you may never even know by the astonishing abilities she reveals. Her competence and determination allow her to tackle any barriers that stand in her way and prevent her from reaching her goals. This film also depicts the lack of support her family demonstrates towards her, specifically (the title singles her out just because of her disability and they see her “differently” than the other daughters in the family). It’s important to look past an individual’s disabilities and see them as a person, because that is who they are. They have strengths and weaknesses just as anyone else would. I highly recommend this movie to anyone, mainly because we could all stand to learn a thing or two from Carla.
